Responsibilities
- Modeling, texturing, creating UVs, and engine implementation of stylized environment assets for a game developed with the Unreal Engine or Unity
- Collaborate with level designers to populate environments
- Working with the art team and technical directors to establish best practices for the environment assets and pipeline
- Coordinating with third-party vendors to ensure the environment assets they produce are high quality and consistent with the game’s art direction and technical specifications
- Actively participate in technical and artistic problem-solving discussions that result in high quality and scalable solutions
- Closely collaborate with production and the rest of the art team to create and maintain a transparent and reliable schedule
Essential Qualifications
- 3+ years experience as an Environment Artist responsible for creating game-ready assets in a full-cycle game development studio
- 2+ years of professional experience with Unreal or Unity
- Demonstrated list of shipped titles
- Understanding of modularity and environment systems used in fast, iterative, and efficient production
- Experience in building worlds in engine (lighting, time of day, fog/skyboxes, palette control, and post process effects)
- Understanding of modern materials and shaders and a high level of proficiency with Maya/3DSMax, Zbrush, and Substance Designer/Painter
- Strong traditional art fundamentals, including the function of form and color, proportions, shape, etc.
- Excellent problem solving skills, ability to identify and resolve issues, and understanding of technical dependencies
- VR experience and a love for VR
