Responsibilities

  • Modeling, texturing, creating UVs, and engine implementation of stylized 3D assets for a game developed with the Unreal Engine or Unity
  • Animation requirements include understanding rigging, skinning, keyframing and other animation techniques. Should be able to create and manipulate character rigging to facilitate realistic movement and animation
  • The ability to lead and inspire a team of artists, providing direction, feedback and support. This requires strong communication and collaboration skills and the ability to quickly solve the inevitable challenges that arise over a project. Candidate also must manage deadlines, priorities, and resources in a fast-paced production environment
  • Working with the art team and technical directors to establish best practices for the assets and pipeline
  • Coordinating with third-party vendors to ensure the assets they produce are high quality and consistent with the game’s art direction and technical specifications
  • Actively participate in technical and artistic problem-solving discussions that result in high-quality and scalable solutions
  • Closely collaborate with production and the rest of the art team to create and maintain a transparent and reliable schedule
  • Traditional drawing skills for communicating ideas
  • Adapt based on feedback given and to changing project requirements, technologies, and priorities

Essential Qualifications

  • 5-8+ years experience as a Generalist 3D Artist responsible for creating game-ready assets in a full-cycle game development studio
  • 5+ years of professional experience with Unreal or Unity
  • Demonstrated list of shipped titles
  • Understanding of rigging/skinning processes for a cosmetics system.
  • Experience in Unity/Unreal engines (lighting, time of day, fog/skyboxes, palette control, and post-process effects)
  • Understanding of modern materials and shaders and a high level of proficiency with Blender, Maya/3DSMax, and Substance Designer/Painter
  • Strong traditional art fundamentals, including the function of form and color, proportions, shape, etc.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, ability to identify and resolve issues, and understanding of technical dependencies
  • VR experience a plus and a love for VR a must

Summary

We are seeking a Generalist 3D Artist who will plan an integral part of the art team tasked with designing and implementing a wide range of in-game art assets for use inside our current game projects. This role is critical for bringing our games to life through versatile artistic skills. The General 3D Artist will work across various artistic disciplines including modeling, texturing, applying shaders, animation, and vfx to create high-quality assets that enhance the immersive experience of our games. The successful candidate in this role will translate a passion for building extraordinary new experiences into games that inspire others. Compensation: Salary Exempt (Estimated Total Compensation - $144,000 - $180,000)
